3D study

I have been interested in humans and have produced production design works inspired by those subjects.

This time, I created a 3D model that shows society and humans ideologically, although it is not a space in the movie.

It expresses individuals in social structures and relationships based on structuralism.

It is inspired by studies about the dynamics in society by French philosopher Paul-Michel Foucault.

According to Foucault, "individual" is a construct created by disciplinary power.

Humans are created from structures and acquire knowledge according to social standards.

From the human face located at the center of the work, you can see the structure of beautiful flowers and a clear sky.

But from an omniscient point of view, humans seem trapped in a dark black structure. The human has a funny face.

The form is also inspired by philosopher Jeremy Bentham's plan for the "optimal prison" : the panopticon.

Such a prison consists of a circle-formed building where every cell is inhabited by only one prisoner.

In the middle, there is a tower where a guard can be placed to observe the prisoners.

Since the prisoners will never be able to know whether they are being watched or not at a given moment,

they will internalize the disciplinary power and regulate their own behavior.

We think we are living according to our will, but in fact, we are constantly being watched by the society,

and we decide and act according to the dynamics of society and live lives that it forces.

Vacation / Travel / Summer / Swim / Vivid Color / Bold Trypography

I created a motion typography video using the song "Blurry" by Korean hip-hop artist Beenzino.

I selected this song because it features both fast and slow tempos.

I interpreted the title "Blurry" as representing the act of forgetting about the tiring, difficult reality and escaping from it.

The theme of my video was "a sweet vacation that follows a busy life," and I designed colorful illustrations and dynamic typography to convey this theme. I used vivid colors throughout the video to evoke the exciting feeling of being on vacation.

I expressed four seasons using paintings of Henri Matisse, who pursued the 'liberation of color'.

As I chose Matisse's works, which are famous for their intense colors, I emphasized their rich color sense.

None of the five works chosen had a season as its theme, but I tried to express the sense of season I received from the works as much as possible. I expressed vitality and softness in spring, cheerfulness in summer, richness in autumn,

and coziness in winter. There were some parts where original works were used, but most of the layers were drawn by me. It was a meaningful experience to make the elements alive and dance to music with my hands.
